Ingredients
• Prawns 1 Kg (Cleaned & de veined)
• Onion 2 Medium (chopped fine)
• Curry leaves 3 – 4 sprigs
• Ginger paste 3 teaspoons
• Chilli powder 3 – 4 teaspoons
• Turmeric powder ½ - ¾ teaspoon
• Salt to taste
• Coconut Oil 4 table spoons
Method
1. Marinate the prawns with chilli powder, turmeric, salt & ginger paste and keep aside for half an hour.
2. Heat oil in a Meen Chatti (earthern wok) and then add the curry leaves. Sauté for a few seconds
3. Add the chopped onions, 1 teaspoon of ginger paste and sauté till golden brown
4. Then add the marinated prawns and cook on medium flame for 15 – 20 minutes sauting in between till the prawns are cooked and the desired consistency is reached.
Tip : take care not to overcook the prawns else they may get rubbery.
I have made no changes to the recipe,just a wee bit of garnish with a teaspoon of powdered cumin,pepper and fennel...I will update a better pic when I make it next time.
